question about the item editor

Hello,

I am trying to get the item editor ( http://forum.spellforce.com/showthread.php?t=47575 ) working on the steam edition of spellforce 1 + the expansions. However I seem to keep getting access violation errors (even when running as admin). A couple of years I did get it working on the Platinum Edition of Sf 1 (which I still have), but I don't have a cd/DVD rom anymore in my laptop and tablet.

So is it possible to get the item editor working on the steam version?
And if not, is there some way to install Platinum Version without a Cd/DVD rom?
